What was the nature of the CPD activity and/or practice-related event?

Describe the situation, when it happened, who was involved, what you did.

  2. Q2.

What did you learn from it?

What new knowledge or skills did you gain? How did your thinking change?

  3. Q3.

How did you change or improve your practice as a result?

What specific actions did you take? What will you do differently in future?

  4. Q4.

How does this demonstrate your alignment with the Code?

Which Code themes are relevant? How does your learning support safe, ethical practice?

CPD Evidence & Practice Hours

What counts as CPD?

  • Participatory: Conferences, workshops, courses, online learning with interaction
  • Non-participatory: Reading journals, webinars, podcasts (max 15 hours)
  • Teaching/Mentoring: Teaching other nurses counts as CPD

Keep records: dates, hours, topic, provider, and how it improved your practice.

The NMC Code: 4 Key Themes

Prioritise People

Put the needs of people at the centre of your practice. Treat people with respect, dignity, and compassion.

Be Trustworthy

Act with honesty and integrity. Be accountable. Respect confidentiality. Follow the rules.

Practice Effectively

Keep your knowledge and skills up to date. Communicate clearly. Work within your scope.

Promote Professionalism
